GOSS COLLECTORS’ CLUB AUCTION

APRIL 2019

Welcome to the Goss Collectors' Club monthly auction of Goss and other makes of heraldic (or crested) china.

Below are listed the items available in this month's auction. For each lot, descriptions both of the piece and of the arms or decoration it bears (if any) are given, followed by its reserve price. Lots listed in normal (upright) typeface were produced by the Goss factory, though this is not stated explicitly in the individual descriptions unless the item is a late "Goss England" piece. Items produced by other factories are listed in italic type, and in these cases the description begins with the factory name, which is underlined.

Please note that the auctions are only open to members of the Goss Collectors' Club, who are welcome to submit bids for or requests for information about specific pieces in it by email to the club auction secretary. Members and non-members may also purchase unsold items from earlier auctions at the reserve price. Regularly updated lists of the currently available items can be found here.

Non-members may send in postal bids for pieces in these auctions provided their membership application and the appropriate subscription is sent at the same time. Please see the club's home page or contact its website manager for details.

For the full terms and conditions of bidding please see the auction rules.

Enquiries regarding the Goss Collectors' Club may be submitted to its website manager.

Greetings and welcome to the April auction

One of the delights of my task is that I get to see and handle some wonderful pieces but unfortunately this is often the result of losing a member whose family lack interest.

I have just been charged with just such a task of disposal and the first of very many pieces, principally with a Great War theme, but not exclusively so, are at the end of this list.  However, it could well be that such pieces aren’t of interest; if that is so I hope you can find something else in a long list.

Please let me have your bid/s by noon on 20th April and if bidding electronically by midnight on the 19th.  Whatever, please may I encourage you to include full posting details so I can pack successful bids on the Sunday.

Ted

Goss Doll marked ‚‘Goss‘ on the back of the neck but, seemingly. unnumbered.  Dressed in what appears to be contemporary military clothing as a Scottish Great War Soldier in tartan kilt, khaki jacket, soft leather belt and tartan boots and leggings.  The hands are in good condition as is the head but for a couple of small flakes of paint missing from his scalp.  Lovely colouring of the face with, in particular, the eyes being a super deep blue.
