GOSS COLLECTORS’ CLUB AUCTION

JULY 2019

Welcome to the Goss Collectors' Club monthly auction of Goss and other makes of heraldic (or crested) china.

Below are listed the items available in this month's auction. For each lot, descriptions both of the piece and of the arms or decoration it bears (if any) are given, followed by its reserve price. Lots listed in normal (upright) typeface were produced by the Goss factory, though this is not stated explicitly in the individual descriptions unless the item is a late "Goss England" piece. Items produced by other factories are listed in italic type, and in these cases the description begins with the factory name, which is underlined.

Please note that the auctions are only open to members of the Goss Collectors' Club, who are welcome to submit bids for or requests for information about specific pieces in it by email to the club auction secretary. Members and non-members may also purchase unsold items from earlier auctions at the reserve price. Regularly updated lists of the currently available items can be found here.

Non-members may send in postal bids for pieces in these auctions provided their membership application and the appropriate subscription is sent at the same time. Please see the club's home page or contact its website manager for details.

For the full terms and conditions of bidding please see the auction rules.

Enquiries regarding the Goss Collectors' Club may be submitted to its website manager.

Greetings.

The list below is shorter than I have been able to produce of late but I do hope that you will find something of interest in which case please let me have your bids by noon on Saturday 20th July.  If the Great War is of interest there is yet another batch, many more to come with that as a theme.

If bidding electronically please do so by midnight on the 19th.  Down here in the deep, and sunny, south west everything for the auction is now a one man operation so whilst I will, quite obviously, accept electronic bids up to midnight it is of immense help to me if you bid several days earlier in organising the administration that must be done.

The following 24 lots have an interesting tale behind them.  A club member returned home one day to find a parcel of Southport Vases on his doorstep with no indication from whence they came.  He decided to wait and see if he was contacted.  He waited but nothing happened except that he got another parcel left in similar fashion!  He has waited a fair length of time but heard nothing from the previous owner so they are being sold at low reserve on a one time only offering.  They will be listed once and remain available for purchase at reserve for just a month and then any unsold will be donated to charity.

There will be a second batch next month – same story same terms.
