he decoration (in relief) on the outside of the bowl of the cup copies that found at the top of actual pillars in Melrose Abbey. The model was designed and produced especially for Mr. William Dick, the Melrose Goss agent, and sometimes bears the following additional inscription to this effect: “Designed and made expressly for Wm. Dick, Melrose”.
