On the basis that you might just be at the seaside in July, we’ve chosen this beautiful Nautilus Shell on a Coral base for July’s pot of the month. The porcelain is so fine you can see right through it. Standing at just 4½”/11cm high this delicate shell is an early piece. It doesn’t have a Goss backstamp but if you look very carefully, you can see an impressed mark at the top left on the base image. We suspect the coral might have been re-touched, and there’s a small piece of coral missing, but you’d be hard pressed to spot where from. We can forgive it any imperfections as it’s such an early, desirable piece and you’ll be lucky to find one – unless you know differently of course!
