inscription: "He grins like
a Cheshire cat chewing gravel"
size: 85mm (height) x
85mm (length) x 45mm (width)
The model, which was illustrated and listed as a new model in the 9th
edition of The Goss Record, can be found both glazed and unglazed and
is normally uncoloured apart from the black eyes. It carries the above
inscription around the edge of the base as can be seen in the
photograph and in addition is usually marked with the word `Copyright'
on the base. There is also a version bearing rather crude colouring
about the cat's face, though this is generally accepted to have been
produced after the Goss family sold the pottery.
The arms of towns and cities in Cheshire are considered by some
to be matching.
