Stockport Plague Stone

inscription:  Model of Plague Stone found during excavations in Stockport Market Place. Original now in Vernon Park Museum, Stockport. The hollow was filled with vinegar, and when food etc. was brought into the town, the money for it was placed in the vinegar to prevent infection.
